Okay, so did you get it? Nate and I have been observing over the last few weeks and we are now pretty much sure...Kelton is left handed! We really shouldn't be shocked. My grandfather and little sister are both left handed (along with some cousins) and Nate has a left handed brother. But it's still a bit of a surprise. Now before any of you think, "now wait a minute, he's way to young to make that judgement. Kids that young switch back and forth all the time before they decide on a dominant hand," just hear me out. Natalie did that. She would sometimes use her left hand, sometimes her right. A lot of times she would switch back and forth during one sitting. But, here's what we've noticed with Kelton. He never uses his right hand. Seriously, never. When he does things like eat or color, it's always his left hand. We've tried putting the crayon right next to his right hand. He will pick it up with his right hand, but only to put it in his left. We have put the crayon in his right hand and no deal. He just moves it to the left. No matter what we do to try to get him to use his right hand, even if only for a moment, it doesn't work. The kid is left handed. Not that this is a bad thing, but how on earth do I teach him to do things completely opposite?

Should've seen it coming...
So take a look at these pictures. Look closely. Do you notice anything? (besides the cute little boy) :)

Well, you know what they say about left handed people...Umm, actually I don't even know what they say. Nothing I guess. I didn't even notice in the pictures then you pointed out. Funny.
You won't have to teach him a thing...he'll figure it out all on his own :) And no, it's not to early to tell. Jennah was an obvious lefty, even from infancy. Our first clue was the fingers she sucked, then which foot she'd start with, the hand she reach for things for...little stuff like that. The only thing you'll have to do, is to be sure to tell his school teachers and ball coaches. Jennah's t-ball coach was always trying to get her to bat right...VERY frustrating for her and me.
I think the only tricky part is holding your hand up when you write so it doesn't smear the pencil/pen on the paper. Such a cute kid! And how are you doing after your wild softball game?
That's funny. I didn't pick it up--I thought maybe he was throwing food at the window. So far, the trickiest thing has been teaching Callie to write--she can't see her letters as she's making them and she has a bit of her parents' perfectionist tendancies so she gets a little frustrated.
Cherie - I just read your softball post! How scary. I'm glad you're alright!
Yeah it became obvious pretty early on that Callie was a lefty. Writing has been the only tricky thing so far, though.
I'm feeling pretty good and can do most everything as long as I don't try to do too much at once. Bending down and carrying things I still have to be careful, that and laughing. :) How are you feeling? Hope you're able to get around easier now that school's starting!
Yay another lefty in the fam! Ya know what they say about left handers...!
