Kindergarten Graduate and How many people are in your family?

Natalie had her Kindergarten Promotion tonight.  It was so cute.  The kids sang a bunch of fun songs for us and then walked up one by one to get their "diplomas" and then we all had cake.  Natalie was kind of sad afterwards though, because she is going to miss her teacher.

And along the lines of Natalie, here is a funny conversation I had with her this past Sunday.  You know, because Natalie never says anything funny...

After church I was asking her about Primary.  She told me that she got "spotlighted."  That is something their Primary does.  They pick a child and then ask them a question (about themself) and have them answer it in front of the whole primary.  It is kind of a fun get-to-know-you type of thing.

Me: "So what question did they ask you?"

Natalie: "How many people are in your family."

Me:  "Oh.  What did you say?"

Natalie:  "Seven."

(I wasn't ready for that answer.  Five, yes.  I was even wondering if she would say six.)
Me:  "Seven?  And who are they?"

Natalie:  "Dad, Mom, Natalie, Kelton, Kaitlin, Damon, and the baby we don't have yet."

I laughed for a bit and then playing along, I asked, "well, what if we have two more babies?"  She got this look on her face that said, "Oh no! I hadn't thought about that!"  I could tell she was worried that she got the answer wrong.

I must admit, I did not know we were supposed to include potential future children when asked how many people are in our family.  So, I hope no one asks me that question before I get some time to sit down and figure out an answer.  What's funny is I didn't even realize until last night that the adults in primary probably thought she was making an accidental announcement.  So it looks like I might need to do a little damage control before the whole ward starts spreading rumors.  (I later told Natalie that she can just tell people that we have five people in our family, because she still thought she should say seven.)

So, do you know how many people are in your family?  Because I apparently don't.  :)

Congrats to Natalie! That's a great one--apparently she knows something you don't. :)

Well...the question I have is whoo the yheck is Kaitlin? Am I missing something here? I understand the child in the clouds that Natalie is counting...but Kaitlin? I thought I knew all the young'n you had.

Sorry to anyone thinking the same thing as above... I think most people who read my blog know the answer--but to those who don't... Kaitlin was our second child, born in between Natalie and Kelton. We only got to keep her for a few minutes before she returned home to heaven.

That is funny. And yes, damage control is a must. A little boy in joy school said something like that. I asked Scott, who asked the 12-yr old brother who denied it. Only the mom started showing 2 weeks later. She just hadn't told the older kids yet. Hahaha. Guess she thought her secret was safe with the 3 yr old. Ask Natalie if she knows if it is a new brother or a new sister!

Haha. Raena and Allie used to tell people I was pregnant whenever they felt we should have another baby. I'm not sure how many RS announcements I gave about how I was NOT expecting.
