2 Years in the Making

Yes, it's been almost two years since we had a family picture taken.  I feel really bad about that because my kids are still so little.  I hate to miss a year.  But, unfortunately, all the little kids are part of the reason for the lapse.  They keep us busy!

But, while we were at Haigler Creek for the reunion, I heard someone mention that Delsy was taking family pictures for Rayla.  Since not knowing who to have take our pictures in one of the hold ups, I figured now would be a good time to just take a few shots while we had a photographer and a nice camera.  In an incredible stroke of luck, I just happened to have coordinating clothes with us.  Arie was the exception, but she was close enough.  Wardrobe choices are probably my number one hold up when it comes to family pictures.  I never know what to have us wear and I'm NOT spending money on new matching outfits for everyone.

Anyway, I was really excited about the clothes in the same color scheme, a photographer on hand, and a beautiful location.  I think we got some great pictures!  Now, I can't decide which I like best.  Help me out...

Photo #1

Photo #2

I can't decide if I like the picture showing all of our bodies and more of the scenery (#1) or if I like it to be cropped in closer (#2).  The picture needs to be horizontal.  All of the kids are smiling in #2, but the picture was taken vertically. So I don't have the option of photo #2 to be further away--it has to be cropped close in order to be horizontal.

Photo #3.
This one probably isn't my favorite, but I like it because it's different.  And because it was a small miracle to get everyone standing in a line, holding hands.

Individual shots of the kids.
I'm so glad we did these.  I'm even happier that I didn't let the guilt make me buy expensive school pictures a few weeks ago.

Super cute pictures! Love them all! I vote #2 on the family picture--even though the scenery is pretty, I prefer closer up for a family portrait--the people are the reason you're taking the picture and all 6 of you are looking at the camera with good smiles (which almost never happens--at least in our family pictures. :))

I like #2 best.
Very cute!

And we had a funny thing happen regarding freezer space for the Elk. I expressed concern to Jared about not having room in the freezer for a big Elk. Well, later that day, Jared called to say he got an Elk...and an hour after that, a lady in our ward (who was moving) called me and said she had a big freezer she was getting rid of, and asked if we wanted it. Interesting. So now we have plenty of freezer space. :)

Definitely #2. Congrats on a family photo - I'm terrible at getting those done so it's number one on my Christmas wish list this year!
